Centennial Fire Station

Located at 839 7th Avenue in Huntington, West Virginia, Centennial Station 1 serves as a central hub for the Huntington Fire Department’s operations. Strategically positioned in downtown Huntington, this station plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the city’s residents.  The Centennial Fire Station is also home to Fire Administration including the Bueau of Fire Prevention.

Apparatus and Capabilities

Centennial Station 1 is equipped with a fleet designed to handle a variety of emergency situations:

  • Engine 1: A 2020 Spartan ER Metro Star pumper, capable of holding 750 gallons of water and delivering up to 1,500 gallons per minute. Its compact design allows for efficient navigation through urban neighborhoods.

  • Rescue 1: A 2023 Spartan Metro Star with a 75-foot rear-mount aerial ladder, enhancing the department’s capabilities in high-angle rescues and firefighting operations.

  • Hazmat 1: 2003 International / Hackney Tractor Trailer that is assigned to the department from the WV Emergency Management Agency.    This apparatus houses the hazardous materials equipment for the Region 6 Regional Response Team.

  • Rescue 11: A Spartan cab and chassis mounted on a Hackney resue body that is utilized as an Air and Light truck and has the capability of being used for rehab during extreme weather incidents.​​

Community Engagement and Training

Beyond emergency response, Centennial Station 1 is instrumental in community outreach and firefighter training:

  • Recruitment and Training: The station hosts Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) orientations and practice sessions, providing aspiring firefighters with hands-on experience using actual equipment.

  • Community Events: Centennial Station 1 frequently opens its doors to the public, fostering community relations and educating residents on fire safety practices.
